Hochtor Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2,504m (8,215ft) above the sea level, located in the Hohe Tauern mountain range, on the main chain of the Central Eastern Alps, in Austria. The pass is traversed by the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. This asphalted road leads under the summit of the pass in the Hochtor Tunnel (311m/340yds long). It’s the highest point of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The road was constructed between 1930 and 1935. To reach the tunnel, starting from Pockhorn, the ascent is 17.4 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 1.400 meters. The average percentage is 8 %.
