4.00

Cime de la Bonette is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.802 metres (9,193 ft) above the sea level, located within the Mercantour National Park on the border of the departments of Alpes-Maritimes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, in France. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of Europe. The road to the top, called C1, starts at the Col de la Bonette. It’s asphalted and is a two kilometre long teardrop shaped loop around the Cime de la Bonette peak (2,860 m (9,380 ft). The road to the pass, located in the French Alps, was built between 1960 and 1961, and is open from June to October only.
The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness. The last piece of road to the monument of the Cime de la Bonette is really steep and difficult with a 10% slope for nearly 1km. It’s one of the highest mountain roads of the country.
