Plöckenpass is a mountain pass at an elevation of 1.357m (4,452ft) above the sea level, located in the Carnic Alps mountain range at the border between the Austrian state of Carinthia and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region of Italy. From the Italian side, the road to the pass (called Passo di Monte Croce Carnico in Italian) is Strada Statale 52bis. From the Austrian side, is called Bundesstraße 110 Plöckenpass Straße. Both are asphalted. To reach the pass starting from Mauthen, the ascent is 12.3 km long. Over this distance, the elevation gain is 658 meters. The average percentage is 5.3 %. The road over the pass links the market town of Kötschach-Mauthen in the Carinthian Gail Valley with the Paluzza municipality in the Carnia region of Friuli.
